Election Integrity TV PSA Launched by Oregon Secretary of State
Oregon Secretary of State Tobias Read is broadcasting a new public service announcement to inform Oregonians about how local officials protect the integrity of election results. The announcements were produced and placed in partnership with the Oregon Association of Broadcasters and television stations across Oregon.
“Trust isn’t given. It’s earned. That’s why I want every Oregonian to know how we keep our election results secure, accurate, and fair. The results you see starting at 8:00 p.m. on election night are unofficial until they are certified. Election officials complete a strict, rigorous certification process in full view of the public to protect the integrity of our American elections,” said Secretary Read.
“I want to thank the Oregon Association of Broadcasters and television stations across the state for working with us to inform Oregon voters.”
The public service announcement can be found here, and a transcript is below:
Election Integrity Public Service Announcement Transcript
Oregon, accurate election results take time.
I’m your Secretary of State, Tobias Read.
Election officials follow strict rules to protect the integrity of our elections.
Every voter’s identity is verified.
Bipartisan teams count ballots in full view of the public.
If there’s any doubt, we recount.
And we preserve these ballots so results can always be checked.
Because in America, every lawful vote matters, every voice counts, and every election must earn the people's trust.
Sponsored by the Oregon Secretary of State, the Oregon Association of Broadcasters and this station.
